Hannibal Mejbri shines on loan after returning to Birmingham City from World Cup – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United loan star Hannibal Mejbri put in an excellent performance in Birmingham City’s 3-2 win over Reading in the Championship.

The Tunisian has returned to club football in fine form following his outings for Tunisia at the FIFA World Cup.

Hannibal was at his combative best against Blackpool last week, winning four games and earning three interceptions in an abrasive game that ended 0-0, with just one shot on goal between the sides.

Against Reading, however, the midfielder’s creative flair came to the fore, in a much more exciting and goal-packed game.

Hannibal completed three accurate long passes, two key passes and recorded an assist for Birmingham’s third goal.

He set up United academy graduate Tahith Chong with a twisting, quick free kick that caught the Royals defense and left the Dutchman one on one with the goalkeeper.

Hannibal’s creative genius in the match didn’t come at the expense of his fire; after all, he never does.

He helped his team win the midfield battle with four interceptions and two successful tackles, surprisingly only fouling once in the entire game.

The Tunisian star was removed in the 76th minute, by none other than Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, sparking a transfer fight between almost every major club in Europe.

Birmingham now sit eighth in the Championship as they battle to secure a playoff spot.

As for Hannibal, he’s been enjoying regular senior action and already has three assists this season.

His development seems to be going very well and many fans are expecting Hannibal to return from his loan spell ready to challenge for a place in the Manchester United first team.
