Italian press hail Di Maria after his World Cup final showing

Angel di Maria made an impressive World Cup return for Argentina, starting XI for their World Cup final against France last night and was in excellent form.

The attacker scored and won the penalty kick to give Argentina a 2-0 lead before halftime in an impressive start to the game by the South Americans.

France came from behind thanks to the brilliant Kylian Mbappé and both teams had to be separated on penalties after extra time ended 3-3.

The Argentines triumphed on penalties, but Di María had been substituted earlier in the game and did not need to take anyone out.

Regardless, his performance was still praised by the Italian media, who were highly impressed by him for the few minutes he spent on the pitch, according to Football Italia.

The report selected the ratings it got from different outlets and revealed that Gazzetta Dello Sport, Tuttosport and Corriere Dello Sport rated it 8.5/10.

Juve FC says

Di María has cemented his place as one of the best players in world soccer in terms of performance in finals, and he also helped Argentina win the Olympic Games and the Copa América.

Juve hope he will bring that form back to the club now that the World Cup is over and help them win some trophies at the end of this season too.
