Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has finally ruled on his departure from the club.
Herrera appeared on a podcast with the club’s media where he was emotional to reveal the details of his departure in 2019.
Herrera, through tears, had to leave and get up from her seat when reviewing the facts of her departure, which she described as “difficult.”
The Spaniard reiterated that he did not want to leave Old Trafford and was waiting until the last minute for another contract offer from club bosses.
An offer never came, so he joined French giant Paris Saint Germain.
Herrera said: “Leave [Manchester United]It was difficult for me: six months before, five months before, I was waiting for that offer to stay.
“I was voted Player of the Year by the fans and the club didn’t call me that summer to sign a new contract like they did with other players. It was painful for me, really. i think i deserved it [a new deal].”
Herrera added: “Afterwards, the conditions changed because I was not happy with that little moment with the club. At the end of the third season, three titles, player of the year, and they didn’t call me up during the summer, so I was a little disappointed.
The 33-year-old commented that the club finally called him up, but it was too late and the damage had been done.
Herrera replied that he fought for the club until the last day and respected the terms of his contract. He accused United of not taking into account the feelings of him and his family regarding how they handled the renewal process.
Recalling the actual day he left Old Trafford, the current Athletic Bilbao star noted that he still has a photo with his daughter at the Theater of Dreams, a prized possession of his.

A fan favorite until he walked out the door, Herrera once declared that United during his time was a business-focused club, but now it seems they are ready to put the past in the past.
