Liverpool urged to sign Sofyan Amrabat by former player

Former player Glen Johnson urged Liverpool to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Ambrabat. The Fiorentina midfielder enjoyed a dreamlike 2022 FIFA World Cup with Morocco.

Sofyan Amrabat played a key role in the Atlas Lions’ historic run to the semi-finals of the competition. He has made six appearances for Qatar so far, recording 2.5 tackles, one interception and 0.3 key passes per 90. Amrabat also won possession 51 times during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Former Liverpool player Glen Johnson urged Jurgen Klopp to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Speaking to the media, he said: “It looks great. He divides the game very well, he feels comfortable with the ball, but what impressed me the most is how calm he is”.

“Against Portugal, Morocco was right up against it, and instead of just receiving the ball and dribbling it in a panic, they were still trying to play. I think he could be a good player for Liverpool.”

Sofyan Ambrabat joined Fiorentina from Hellas Verona in the January 2020 window. He has played 78 games (in all competitions) so far, scoring one goal. The Moroccan international was named Best African Player in Serie A by Gazzetta Dello Sport in 2020.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have struggled with their midfield options this season. Thiago, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Fabinho, Arthur Melo and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have suffered injuries this season.

Jurgen Klopp will be looking to bolster his midfield during the upcoming transfer window. Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent months. However, the England international is likely to charge a hefty transfer fee. Liverpool could look to sign Sofyan Amrabat, and Fiorentina are demanding just 40 million euros to sell him.

Apart from the Reds, Tottenham Hotspur is another Premier League club that has shown interest in signing him in recent days. Spurs manager Antonio Conte is a big fan of the Moroccan international and is eager to add him to his squad.
