Manchester United forced to reduce capacity for cup tie against Burnley – Man United News And Transfer News

Seating has been reduced for Manchester United’s game against Burnley in the Carabao Cup next week.

In an official statement issued by the club today, it was confirmed that the sold-out game has been reduced to a capacity of 62,000.

The article cites “the unavailability of ambulance service personnel as a result of a day of industrial action affecting the North West Ambulance Service” as the reason for the reduction.

He went on to say: “The security authorities have advised the club to reduce capacity.”

The stands that have been closed are stand 2 of the west stand and stand 3 of the north stand.

Although the club discussed alternatives, it clarified that “it was not possible to move the match to another date due to the unavailability of other key public services and matchday staff over the Christmas period.”

The club has written to the holders of the affected tickets offering them a refund.

“We will do our best to relocate anyone affected and who has not chosen to accept a refund,” it says, “prioritizing full and cup season ticket holders.”

He concludes by saying, “We will provide a further update tomorrow detailing the next steps.”

United beat Villa 4-2 at Old Trafford in the last round and will be hoping to continue that cup run with a result against Burnley.

It is the first game back for the Reds after the World Cup.

Tournament finalists such as Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martínez are unlikely to participate, but otherwise expect a strong team.
