Bastian Schweinsteiger gives his verdict on Erik ten Hag’s summer signings – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has weighed in on three of the club’s summer signings, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martínez and Antony.

Schweinsteiger spoke about the United trio with club media. He especially praised Christian Eriksen, whom he called a player he loves to watch.

The German said of the Dane: “He knows the league, but he knows the game, that’s even more important. He has the vision, he has the brains, he knows when to pass the ball at the right times.”

“I really like watching him because his IQ is so high, and I love seeing players passing the ball at the right time to give your teammate more time to do something.”

“The [Eriksen] He’s doing that and it’s great to see him.”

Martinez also received praise from Schweinsteiger. The 38-year-old praised the South American defender for his passion for football and United.

Beyond Martinez’s passion, the former pro pointed to the centre-back’s intelligence and defensive ability as the reasons behind his back-line success for a player of his size.

He added about Martínez that he is a player who knows exactly what to do, enjoys having the ball at his feet and, most importantly, appreciates the fans.

All of these are attributes that Schweinsteiger believes will drive Martinez even further and make him a mainstay at Old Trafford for many years to come.

The former United player who spent time at the Theater of Dreams between 2015 and 2017 said he strongly believes Antony will also help the team progress through the season.

While Schweinsteiger waxed lyrical about United’s summer recruits, he let it be known that more is required in the future.

In an apparent warning to club bosses not to rest on their laurels, he pointed out that more quality signings are required.

This was true, he said, not just for the first team but for the squad as a whole. He gave an example of when he was at Bayern Munich and both the first team and the second team had quality and consolidated players, so that the training sessions were of the highest possible quality at all times.
