How Juventus determination and speed helped them land Kostic

Juventus added Filip Kostic to their squad in the summer after the winger impressed for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League last season.

He did well and helped them win the competition, becoming one of the most sought-after players in the last transfer window.

Juve ultimately won the race for his signing, but the winger could have easily moved to West Ham because he was first approached by the EPL club.

A new report on Football Italia reveals that Frankfurt turned down the €15m plus €5m from West Ham, believing it was too little and wanted another suitor to move for him.

Juve quickly agreed personal terms with him in the first week of August before facing Frankfurt, who were offered €2m below their required fee.

However, on August 9 both clubs agreed on a fee of around €18 million plus add-ons and two days later he transferred to Turin.

Juve FC says

As one of the biggest clubs in the world, Juve know how to get things done and we showed it on this transfer.

Kostic could have easily moved to another club if we didn’t move quickly, but our experience helped us secure a deal with him before quickly closing the deal with his old club.
