Report: Di Maria and Juventus could split up earlier than expected

After long negotiations characterized by indecision, Ángel Di María finally signed for Juventus last summer. However, his time at Turin has been marred by recurring injuries, limiting the player’s impact.

Apart from a scintillating debut against Sassuolo and a terrific Champions League performance against Maccabi Haifa, the winger has not enjoyed memorable outings with his new club.

While the 34-year-old is expected to leave the Italian giants at the end of his one-year deal in June, a report suggests an even earlier departure.

According to TuttoJuve, Di María could leave Juventus in the next January session, with a move to Major League Soccer on the cards.

The source names David Bechkham’s Inter Miami as a potential destination for the former PSG player.

The report adds that the Argentina international could choose to return to his home country, either signing for his original club, Rosario Central, or a more glamorous destination like River Plate.

Juve FC says

Despite his injury problems, Di Maria remains a deadly weapon for Max Allegri and unless Juventus can find an alternative, allowing him to leave in the middle of the campaign may be a bad idea.

At this point, the smart thing to do would be to keep the player’s services until June, as management is more likely to find a suitable replacement in the summer.
