Spurs sweat latest Richarlison injury concerns

Tottenham Hotspur’s star striker Richarlison appears to be sidelined due to fresh injury concerns. The Athletic reports that the 25-year-old striker suffered a hamstring injury in preparation for Brazil’s game against Croatia on Friday. Despite the setback, the striker managed to play for the World Cup favourites.

However, Richarlison was substituted for head coach Tite in the 84th minute of the game. With the score tied at 0-0, many fans and pundits were confused that Tite would bring out their striker. However, the move makes sense now knowing that the star had injury problems. Brazil abandoned the game on penalties and subsequently dropped out of the tournament.

Star informs Spurs to receive a scan

Richarlison reported to the Spurs on Monday for tests on his injured hamstring. This was about a week earlier than previously scheduled. Although the results of the exploration have not yet been published, there are concerns that the Brazilian could be out for around a month.

The former Everton striker just joined Spurs this summer in a deal worth around $70m. Despite the high price, Richarlison has not scored for his club in over three months. In fact, the Brazilian has yet to register a Premier League goal for Spurs thus far. However, he has missed time due to a previous ankle injury and manager Antonio Conte has not always given him a starting job.

However, Richarlison has been enthusiastic about his national team. The striker has racked up 10 goals in as many games for Brazil this year. This includes three goals in the 2022 World Cup.

Richarlison doesn’t just worry about Spurs injuries

While Spurs sweat over the Brazilian’s fitness, the north London club is also dealing with Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury woes. The Uruguayan was injured in the World Cup and will miss a few weeks due to a thigh problem. Defender Ben Davies was also injured in the tournament and will likely be sidelined for a few weeks as well.

Spurs’ next game is Brentford on December 26. Bentancur has already been suspended for the game, but it seems unlikely that Richarlison and Davies will be fit for the league game.
