Exclusive: Manchester United have recently sent scouts to watch Portuguese star

Manchester United have sent scouts to keep an eye on Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos.

With Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract recently terminated, Manchester United are likely to be in the market for a new striker in the next transfer window.

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been used in a center forward role on occasion this season, but neither is what you’d call an outright forward.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside via his Substack column, Manchester United recently sent scouts to watch Benfica striker Ramos, who scored an impressive World Cup hattrick.

“Manchester United is considering many options, we know Cody Gakpo but there are others as well. They are still in internal discussions to decide the best option and then they will proceed. They made their scouts watch Gonçalo Ramos with Benfica many times, but the same thing happened with other clubs”, said Romano.

Manchester United are likely targeting and looking at several forwards at the moment due to their situation, and there is no doubt that they will be impressed with Ramos’ performance against Switzerland in the World Cup.

The Portuguese international was controversially chosen to replace former Manchester United player Ronaldo, but it certainly paid off as Ramos scored three times as Portugal won the game 6-1.
