Barcelona CEO provides an update on Ousmane Dembele future

Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele is one of the most talented attackers of his generation. The French international joined the Blaugrana from Borussia Dortmund in the 2017 summer transfer window.

He has played 170 games (in all competitions) for the Blaugrana so far, registering 37 goals and 41 assists. Dembélé helped the Catalan team win two La Liga titles, among other honours. He had 13 assists in 21 league games last season, the most in La Liga during the 2021-22 season.

The 25-year-old striker’s previous contract at the Camp Nou expired at the end of last season. However, Barcelona negotiated a new contract with him in July, which will run until 2024.

Speaking to the media, he said: “Dembélé has always said that he wants to stay. He has been very respectful and we are super happy with Ousmane ”.

Barcelona plans to open contract negotiations with Ousmane Dembele at the end of the current season. The 25-year-old attacker has been one of the best Blaugrana players this season. He has registered four goals and five assists in 14 La Liga appearances so far. Dembele also contributed a goal and two assists in six UEFA Champions League games before Blaugrana’s elimination from the competition.

The France international has impressed with his performances at the FIFA World Cup. Dembélé has assisted two goals in four FIFA World Cup appearances so far. He is expected to play a key role for Les Blues when they face France in the quarter-final at the Al Bayt Stadium on December 11.

The Barcelona general director, Jordi Cryuff, also updated on the future of Memphis Depay. He said: “Why should we sell Depay in January if it is difficult to sign new players due to financial Fair Play? He has always been a great professional. He can be really helpful. Free agent in June?
