Bellingham will be ‘one of the best midfielder in the world’, says PL legend

Yaya Toure compared Liverpool target Jude Bellingham to Reds legend Steven Gerrard, explaining why the 19-year-old will soon become “one of the best midfielders in the world”.

The teenager has been in exceptional form for Borussia Dortmund this season and his performances for England at the World Cup in Qatar have only added to the excitement around him.

The former Birmingham City star will be eager to impress once again when the Three Lions take on France in the round of 16 tomorrow and Toure has explained who the midfielder reminds him of.

“The goal (against Iran) reminds me of (Steven) Gerrard, (Frank) Lampard, (Paul) Scholes. Maybe more Scholes. Great players who smell an opportunity, see the gap in a defense and just walk in,” Toure told The Athletic (via the Liverpool Echo).

“These types of players force the rivals to not only worry about the forwards. They also have to worry about Bellingham, because his run from the second row is brilliant,” he added. ”He doesn’t look 19. He looks like a player who has been playing at a high level for a long time. He is going to be one of the best midfielders in the world and he is already showing his talent”.

To be compared to those players, especially our former No. 8, is a huge compliment, but he’s earned that accolade.

It looks like Bellingham can do it all in midfield, whether it’s sitting deep and dictating play or breaking through the lines and making things happen at the top end of the pitch.

He recorded an assist for Jordan Henderson during Senegal’s recent defeat and that link only added to the calls for Liverpool to secure his signing.

Jurgen Klopp has made the Dortmund No. 22 his top priority over the next two transfer windows and Christian Falk recently confirmed to the Empire of the Kop that there is a “very, very good chance” he will join the FA Cup holders. .

Still a teenager means Bellingham have the potential to shine in our midfield for the next decade and therefore we shouldn’t be put off by any hefty price tag.
