Falk provides update on Mislintat and LFC sporting director role

Christian Falk has explained that Sven Mislintat will not be Liverpool’s next sporting director.

The former Arsenal scout has been linked with a move to Anfield to replace Julian Ward when he leaves his role at the end of the season, but those rumors have been quashed by the German journalist.

“He was the sports director of Stuttgart, in the past he also worked for [Borussia] Dortmund like Jurgen Klopp did,” Falk told Empire of the Kop exclusively.

“But we heard, there were no talks with Liverpool, there was little contact, but we heard that no, he is not their next sporting director.

“It’s always good for him, you know, he’s looking for a job now, if you’re connected with Liverpool, you’ve got better cards in your next talks, but we’re listening at the moment, there aren’t any talks that are very close and if not there are more.” it will not happen.

It came as a surprise to many when the news broke recently that Ward would be leaving the club at the end of the current campaign.

He only replaced Michael Edwards at the start of the season and it looked like he would be running our transfer business for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, Mislintat completed some phenomenal transfer deals during his time at Dortmund – the likes of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Shinji Kagawa were signed by the Bundesliga side under his guidance – so you’ll understand why Falk’s latest update may be a blow to some Liverpool supporters.

However, we are very confident that there are other candidates who will be able to step in and continue the excellent work that Edwards and Ward have done of late.
