Yunus Musah is a transfer target for Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea

United States men’s national team midfielder Yunus Musah has attracted the interest of transfer targets following his strong display at the World Cup. The 20-year-old playmaker made a formidable pairing in midfield with Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie.

Musah currently plays for Valencia at club level. The Spanish outfit already have the American on a deal until 2026, but reports suggest they are willing to extend his current deal. Along with the lengthy contract, Musah also has a buyout clause of $105 million. However, potential buyers will most likely not have to spend the full amount to buy the midfielder.

The Premier League trio have a transfer target set on Yunus Musah

90min has stated that Valencia has opened contract talks with Musah to defend against interest. The outlet also says that a trio of Premier League giants are surrounding the American midfielder. Musah’s representatives have reportedly been contacted by Chelsea and Liverpool, while Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to their World Cup matches.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed the reports and also added Inter Milan to the list of possible destinations. “Yunus Musah is on the Premier League club list,” Romano said. “Arsenal recently sent their scouts to monitor him, but there are also other well-informed Premier League giants, Inter Milan are also interested. I could leave Valencia between January and June.

Musah was part of Arsenal’s youth setup before leaving for Spain in 2019. Signing for the Gunners at the age of nine, the midfielder spent seven seasons in Arsenal’s academy. Musah was also a youth international for England before switching national teams as a senior player.

The transfer fee is probably not a release clause

Despite the mass release clause in Valencia, Musah’s agent told Calciomercato last month that his client could leave Spain for as little as $31-$42 million. The agent also stated that the Premier League and Serie A have “an advantage for his future”.

Valencia is currently tenth in the LaLiga table at the moment. However, they have all the power regarding the immediate future of Musah. With the midfielder’s current contract not expiring until 2026, a possible bidding war between the big clubs could benefit the Spanish outfit.
