Liverpool plot £69m striker move amid fears Real Madrid could sign Nunez

Dusan Vlahovic has reportedly topped Liverpool’s list of possible successors for Darwin Nunez should Real Madrid make a move for the Uruguay international.

This comes courtesy of Calciomercato and ‘reports from Spain’ cited by Football Transfers ahead of the resumption of domestic football, which will kick off, at the Reds’ end, with a Carabao Cup clash against Manchester City.

The former Benfica man enjoyed an upturn in his fortunes in L4 after a rocky start at his new team, registering 11 goal contributions in 18 appearances this term.

We find it highly doubtful that the 23-year-old will switch clubs as soon as the upcoming summer transfer window, even with existing concerns over the availability of Karim Benzema.

The fact is, despite Los Blancos still being a powerhouse in European football, Liverpool players are no longer considered easy options for the best teams around the world.

Although we have a lot of respect for the quality on offer with Juventus’ Vlahovic valued at £69m, we just can’t see Nunez leaving anytime soon, particularly not with a contract that won’t expire until 2028.
