Numerous reports in recent weeks have detailed the extent of the deterioration in the relationship between Félix and Diego Simeone.
The player is very unhappy with his role in the team and the team’s playing style that does not bring out the best in him.
The Red Devils are among a host of clubs pursuing the Felix signing.
Felix played in Portugal’s emphatic win against Switzerland and impressed, giving United fans a taste of what he could bring to Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old capped his dazzling display with two assists.
Atletico Madrid general manager Miguel Angel Gil confirmed Felix’s intention to leave and reiterated that the Spanish giants are willing to consider offers to facilitate a post-World Cup exit.
He said: “It’s the biggest bet the club has made [buying Felix]. I think it has the highest level in the world, but for the reasons that now it is not worth entering.
“The relationship between the coach and him is not good and neither is his motivation.”
He added: “The reasonable thing is to think that it will come out, although I would love it to continue, but that is not the idea of the player.”
Miguel Ángel Gil also said that the fans have Simeone “in mind”, referring to the love of the fans for the coach and the coach above any player.

United should make sure they are competing for Felix. His high potential and versatility in multiple positions, as seen so far in Portugal, make him an invaluable player who would be a real asset for Erik ten Hag.
With the player hell-bent on getting out, along with confirmation from the CEO, a reasonable price may be able to be agreed upon.
