Robertson on why he ‘didn’t want to’ watch this year’s World Cup

Andy Robertson finds himself in an unfortunate position as a footballer, where he’s the captain of his national team, but not one who managed to book his place at the first mid-season World Cup.

Speaking to the Liverpool club’s website, the 28-year-old spoke about how he felt watching the tournament: “Difficult, I didn’t really watch it to be honest. [I] I tried to tune out football for a couple of weeks. Slowly but surely the last few days [I] I started seeing a couple more of the games and stuff like that.

“Obviously I was in the other part of the world where the time difference was a little bit [different]and I didn’t want to stay up and watch the games.

For our No.26, it has clearly been a difficult period for him, but one that will also inspire him to go and show that he is still one of the best players in the world, despite not being able to prove it on the international stage.
