Germany Director Oliver Bierhoff sacked

Germany sacked manager Oliver Bierhoff following the failure of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The European nation failed to make it past the group stage.

The DFB-Team lost their first FIFA World Cup match against Japan, while also playing out a 1-1 draw against Spain. They recorded a 4-2 win against Costa Rica in their last group game, but it was insufficient to secure their place in the round of 16.

The winners of the 2014 FIFA World Cup failed to advance to the group stage of the FIFA World Cup for the second time in a row. They are likely to make changes to their back office staff in the coming weeks.

The DFB team relieved sports director Oliver Bierhoff of his duties after a disappointing campaign at the FIFA World Cup.

German FA President Bernd Neuendorf said: “Oliver Bierhoff has been of incredible service to the DFB. Although we have not lived up to expectations on the field in recent tournaments, he has been behind some great moments. His work will always be intertwined with our victory at the World Cup in Brazil. Even in turbulent times, he always followed his goals and visions and helped to shape the DFB in a sustainable way”.
