Ally McCoist claims two Liverpool transfer targets a lot better than France’s entire midfield

Ally McCoist will have excited Liverpool fans after tagging England’s now-established midfield three of Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice and Jordan Henderson, superior to France’s midfield, which currently includes former Reds target Aurelien Tchouameni.

It is quite a statement given the quality of the Real Madrid man and the levels of performance shown by the current starters.

It may also partly validate the Merseysiders’ reported interest in their skipper’s teammates in the middle of the park.

I think England is better [than France] for a good distance in the middle of the park, I think they are better for a while,” the Scotsman told talkSPORT. “I thought Bellingham was absolutely exceptional.”

Liverpool’s interest in Bellingham has been long-standing and Jurgen Klopp reportedly lobbied hard for the signing (according to a tweet by Florian Plettenberg), while Graeme Bailey recently tweeted about links between the Anfield-based team and Rice.

Given the rumored price tags attached to both, it seems unlikely that we’ll be able to pull off both transfers in one window, certainly not without a change of ownership and a large influx of cash.

As far as we’re concerned, fans should take the links between us and the West Ham star with a pinch of salt, while the Borussia Dortmund teen sensation is far more likely to end up in the famous red jersey.
