Liverpool sale latest as Qatari journalist issues big claim amid fresh interest in full takeover

The reported interest of a joint venture between Saudi Arabia and Qatar in a full takeover of Liverpool Football Club appears to be very legitimate.

This comes courtesy of a tweet from sports journalist @Qatari, which translates as ‘Interest in Liverpool… ????’ – following statements by Albawaba and David Lynch on the subject of new offers for the Premier League team.

The groups together are understood to be in possession of “great shared wealth,” which “puts them in a commanding position,” according to the Sporting News reporter.

Despite assurances that any such offer from the association would survive FA scrutiny, it’s hard to see them skimping on fanbase concerns without first demonstrating a complete lack of serious ties to their respective states.

Whether or not they come with the promise of elevating the club into the financial stratosphere occupied by a select few clubs in world football, this venture will quickly discover strong opposition from supporters deeply rooted in the city’s values.

Values that simply will not fit in at all with the ongoing allegations of human rights abuses in both Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
