£17m goal machine now thinking about joining West Ham next month

West Ham could sign a new striker in January as Salernitana and Senegal international Boulaye Dia would “seriously think” about moving to the London Stadium during the winter transfer window.

The 26-year-old scored once for Senegal at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring in the African team’s 3-1 win over the hosts during the group stage.

Dia is currently on loan for a season at Serie A side Salernitana after he struggled to establish himself in La Liga with Villarreal.

Tutto Salernitana says the striker could be sold to West Ham for around €20m (£17m) and Dia is said to be open to a move, says Peter O’Rourke.

Speaking of Dia, the journalist said: “Obviously West Ham have had a great last 18 months under David Moyes, reaching the Europa League semi-final last year.

“Obviously they are doing well in the Europa Conference League this season, the form in the Premier League has not been very good and that has probably been a concern for everyone.

“But I think the opportunity to move to West Ham, also to London, which is always attractive to players, would be something he would seriously think about.”
