Details emerge from the burglary involving England star Raheem Sterling

Surrey Police have issued a statement about the robbery involving Raheem Sterling and his family, which dismisses some of the initial media reports.

Raheem Sterling was left out of England’s squad for the Three Lions’ clash with Senegal on Sunday night as they advanced to the World Cup quarter-finals with a 3-0 win.

After the match, Gareth Southgate stated that the Chelsea star is flying home to deal with a family matter and is unsure if he will return to Qatar or not.

Reports last night indicated that an armed raid took place when the footballer’s partner and young children were at home, but this has now been dismissed by Surry police, says the Mirror.

Surrey Police statement on the Raheem Sterling incident

In a statement about the robbery, Surrey Police said via the Mirror: “We are currently investigating a report of a robbery at an address in Oxshott, Leatherhead. On Saturday, December 3, the occupants returned to the residence after arriving home from an international trip.

“They contacted the police just before 9:00 p.m. to report the theft of a number of jewelry items, including watches. Officers attended the address later that night and returned to speak with the occupants this morning. At this time it is not clear on what date the property was stolen and establishing this is a key part of our investigation.

“Investigations into the full circumstances are ongoing and officers will look at all available evidence, including CCTV opportunities. We are aware of media reports that armed suspects were involved, however, at this time, we want to reassure our communities that no witnesses have come forward to this effect and there are no reports of threats of violence related to this incident. ”.
