Nottingham Forest sign 23rd player of the season

Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Brazilian midfielder Gustavo Scarpa on free.

The 28-year-old will join the Premier League side in January after his contract with Brazilian side Palmeiras expired earlier in the year.

Scarpa, who is Forest’s 23rd signing of the season, will bring attacking poison to the newly promoted side as they look to stay out of the relegation zone in May.

Forest are currently 18th in the Premier League, one point from safety behind Everton.

Scarpa scored 37 goals in 211 appearances for Palmeiras and helped them finish 11th in the league winning the Ballon d’Or award.

The attacking midfielder played once for the Brazilian national team in 2017 and said: “I am very happy to be here, it is a dream for me. It’s a new challenge and I can’t wait for it to start.”

“It has always been an ambition since I was a little boy to play in Europe, and my dream is to play in the Premier League.

I am a technical player, but I have also developed my defensive game in the last two seasons. I am very dedicated, hardworking and I am excited to start now”.

The new signing appears to be enjoying life in England already and was seen skateboarding through Nottingham city center over the weekend. He did his best not to bump into the buyers while showing some good footwork with some kicks.

The Brazilian will be part of the Forest squad that travels to Athens for a six-day training camp next week.

Steve Cooper’s team will play Greek teams Atromitos and Olympiacos in a bid to keep the players fit as the league will resume after the World Cup in Qatar ends.

Forest have struggled to hit the back of the net this season and despite picking up big wins against Liverpool and West Ham, Cooper’s side need goals up front and therefore the acquisition of Scarpa looks like the must. of the moment.
