Virgil van Dijk appeared to scoff at the idea of Cody Gakpo moving to Manchester United in the near future.
This comes courtesy of a tweet from Fabrizio Romano relaying the Dutchman’s comments to The Athletic.

Since then, the Netherlands have progressed to the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Qatar after a resounding 3-1 win over the United States.

The Liverpool-linked attacker, according to the transfer news guru who told Caught Offside we sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old during his time with PSV, would certainly be a welcome addition to any top team in Europe judging for the quality of their performances in Doha.
Our number 4’s comments on the matter, if nothing else, seem to suggest that Manchester United are not a genuine choice for their international teammate, although the same cannot be said for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Having said that, Van Dijk’s presence could play a role in influencing Gakpo towards an Anfield switch, if we so desire.
