Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not look back on his time as Red Devils boss with regret.
This is according to The Athletic’s Andy Mitten, who conveys the Norwegian’s sentiments and verdict on his time as United boss.
Since Solskjaer lost his job more than a year ago after a 4-1 thrashing at Watford, he has been spending time with his family, something he was unable to do as United manager.
Solskjaer also learned to surf after turning down multiple offers of managerial jobs and television pundit jobs.
As well as this, the former United striker has kept abreast of the latest developments in the world of football, learning the tactics of Europe’s elite teams in an effort to hone his skills as a top-tier football manager.
So committed is Solskjaer to this goal that he has watched every game he has managed as United manager and analyzed them closely and with great scrutiny: all 168 games.
Mitten reports on what the 49-year-old thinks of his managerial reign at Old Trafford: “Solskjaer is convinced that these last few months will not change his feelings about his almost three-year spell as manager.
“He considers it an incredible experience and he really felt that he and his team were going through something special.
“They [Solskjaer’s coaching staff] He was a strong believer in Solskjaer’s work and most did not stick around when he left.
“The [Solskjaer] I felt that the team spirit was getting to where it needed to be. He is overloaded, but he has never stopped learning and he feels like a better coach because of his experience at United ”.
Mitten also revealed a personal detail about the treble winner. After retiring into her private life, she recalled the backroom staff members of her at Christmas.
He sent luxurious baskets to each of them, a gesture that moved many to tears.
Although he was not as successful as most fans would have liked, the Old Trafford faithful undoubtedly still have fond memories of the former player and manager.
