Manchester United midfielder Casemiro left his former Real Madrid teammates unhappy over the summer when he moved to England.
According to Andy Mitten, several of Real Madrid’s established stars did not believe the news of a possible move to United, but soon protested to the club when it became clear that the Brazilian’s departure was on the line.
Mitten reports: “The Real Madrid players were not happy. They had heard that Casemiro was being linked with a move away from the club, but they initially ruled it out.”
“When they realized that the Brazilian was ready to join Manchester United, a group of veteran players went to see manager Carlo Ancelotti.”
“He went straight to the point: Madrid cannot let Casemiro go, he is an integral part of the team that has won everything, the reigning champions of Spain and Europe.”
It seems that the madridistas knew the caliber of player they were losing. Since his arrival at Olf Trafford, the 30-year-old has hardly made a misstep.
It didn’t take long for Casemiro to become a key player in Erik ten Hag’s plans, who had him on his list along with the elusive summer target, Frenkie de Jong.
Beyond United, Casemiro has also been imperious for Brazil, recently scoring against Switzerland to lift the Selecao to the last 16 of the World Cup.
Mitten adds that the Brazil international is extremely happy at United and enjoys English football. His passion is underlined by the fact that he is always the first to arrive at training and the gym.
Athletic reveals that several of its sources describe the midfielder as “humble” and “listener”. Within the club, the player is regarded as a true professional with no ego despite his illustrious trophy-filled career.
On Casemiro’s best qualities, a leading football analyst commented that his attributes were essentially immeasurable. The analyst listed the player’s excellent position when the team attacks, his willingness to always defend and balance the center to break counterattacks.
Certainly United fans have been more than treated to Casemiro’s world-class skills. With any luck, he’ll lead Brazil to a World Cup trophy and return to club soccer as a World Champion.
