Sasa Lukic posts impressive stats despite Serbia’s defeat – Man United News And Transfer News

It was reported this morning that Manchester United were interested in signing Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic from Torino in the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old has 18 months left on his contract at Torino.

Tonight’s performance against Switzerland will have further increased their price despite Serbia losing and missing out on the World Cup.

Lukic was heavily involved in Serbia’s last group game playing the full ninety minutes and making 63 touches.

At half time, Lukic had 91% passing accuracy, and despite Serbia’s panic and despair in the closing stages, he finished the match with 88% passing accuracy.

He put a good cross into the danger zone and three accurate long balls to try to help his team launch the attack and cross the line.

He also helped his team at the back when he made a crucial clearance and committed a series of tactical fouls to keep his team in contention.

Unfortunately, despite taking the lead in the first half, Serbia lost 3-2 to Switzerland, who advance to the round of 16 with Brazil.

Lukic started his professional career with Partizan in 2013 and joined Torino in 2016.

He made his international debut for Serbia in 2018 and has started every game this World Cup.

He is not the only Serbian international the Reds have been keeping an eye on, as Dusan Vlahovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are also on their radar.

United hope to make a statement in January as they search for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. Cody Gakpo is also rumored to be moving to Old Trafford, but manager Erik ten Hag may prefer an all-round striker to replace the 37-year-old.
