Christian Pulisic’s value rising after every World Cup game

Christian Pulisic may not be lighting up the tournament in the goals department like other stars are. However, the American is proving that his potential far exceeds his performance under Graham Potter at Chelsea. Consequently, Pulisic is skyrocketing his value with every performance as he is a game changer for the United States.

Pulisic already had a ‘big money’ move. Chelsea paid Borussia Dortmund $65 million for the American in early 2019. It’s safe to say it’s been a disappointing tenure at Stamford Bridge so far. Injuries do not help, but Pulisic’s inconsistent form and lack of production do not favor the support of the club’s demanding fans.

In fact, Transfermarkt now pings his value at a mere $40 million. This is a third less than the same value just two years ago.

Pulisic’s value increases with each game in the World Cup

Based on his playing time, it is obvious that the current Chelsea coaching staff does not rate Pulisic. In 18 appearances for the Blues, Pulisic played more than 45 minutes on four occasions. He scored a goal on one and assisted on another. The dilemma is that the player wants more playing time, and the club has a wealth of talent playing a similar role to Pulisic.

Manchester United, Newcastle and Leeds United are rumored potential landing spots for Pulisic. However, the player’s performances in Qatar could see a significant increase in player value, especially if a bidding war occurs.

Strong international performances

Previously, many English fans saw Pulisic just as a name to appeal to an American audience. However, he is proving to be a commendable talent at Worlds. In the first game, he provided the assist for Timothy Weah for the USMNT’s first goal of the tournament.

On matchday two against England, with millions of Chelsea fans actively watching their support, Pulisic nearly scored the only goal. His shot off the crossbar in the first half nearly sent football social media into a war. He won the man of the match award in a match that featured three of his Chelsea teammates on the other side.

The last day proved its worth. The goal of beating Iran is one thing. His leadership and determination to play is part of the intangible package that coaches and executives strive for. It also helps that Pulisic isn’t afraid to take on players with the dribble to showcase a physical skill set.

imminent transfer

The consequence of his performance could benefit his life at the club. In the past, rumors circulated about Pulisic’s unhappiness at Chelsea. For example, Pulisic’s father alluded to the player having a “sad” time at Stamford Bridge. He wants out whether he says so or not.

Keep in mind that Pulisic won’t get the $100 million move or be the talk of transfer rumors. However, he has the opportunity to redo his career at the club.

Manchester United have a coach in Erik ten Hag who demands pressure and work rate from their strikers. Pulisic showed in the first half of Iran’s game that he can be instrumental in regaining possession, even when he is the one to let go. Jesse Marsch is similar at Leeds, his compatriots Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams can attest to that. Those two make a living out of it.

At Newcastle, Pulisic may be in a team that shows no signs of slowing down. Eddie Howe has the Magpies absolutely flying in the Premier League. Newcaslte turned Miguel Almirón into one of the most dangerous attackers in the Premier League. Pulisic is four years younger than Almirón and could become a key player in Newcastle’s project under the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

If these clubs expressed interest before, Christian Pulisic is only increasing his value through his World Cup. If America continues to thrive with Pulisic at its core, more than just these three could call. Or, Graham Potter can find a way to fit Pulisic, a natural leader of his national team, into his Chelsea squad.
