All the angles of Japan goal as World Cup controversy is debated

Germany are out of the World Cup after a dramatic night of soccer that saw Japan and Spain exit Group E, but it did not go without controversy and conspiracy theories are raging after matches.

With Germany beating Costa Rica 4-2, the four-time winners needed Spain to prevent Japan from winning to keep their World Cup dreams alive, but the Spanish failed to do so.

Japan scored two goals in the space of three minutes early in the second half and the second of these from Ao Tanaka is proving controversial as it looked as though the ball might have been offside.

The only angle that can’t be found at the moment is the one on the ball, but with all those available, it’s hard to tell if it was out or not – the refs deemed it correct.

In addition to this controversy, conspiracy theorists also suggest that Spain intended to lose the match as it would put them in second place and put them on the favorable side of the draw away from Argentina and Brazil.

This stems from the Spaniards’ approach of going 2-1 behind, but it seems a bit of a stretch.

The available angles of the controversial goal can be seen below, do you think it was left out? Comment below.
