Dubai training camp can benefit Liverpool massively, says ex-Red

Fabio Aurelio has explained that the Liverpool players will benefit greatly when they head to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp later this month.

There are seven players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad currently representing their nations at the World Cup in Qatar, but the rest of the players will also be heading to the Middle East for slightly different reasons.

The FA Cup champions will complete a number of different sessions and will also face Lyon and AC Milan in friendlies during their stay in the Gulf nation, something that will greatly benefit the Reds as they prepare for the second half of the campaign according to the ex. Red.

“The Reds who aren’t in action in Qatar won’t be too far off next week,” Aurelio told Liverpoolfc.com.

“European clubs are probably not used to a mid-season break, but I think this could help some teams.

“I remember having an extended training camp in the middle of the season when I returned to Brazil with Gremio. It was during the Confederations Cup in 2013. We didn’t go anywhere but it was very beneficial for me.

“I had just come back from an ACL injury and only played a few games. It was a good time to do something like a little ‘pre-season’ before the league restarted.”

Of the ‘big six’ Premier League clubs that have players competing in the World Cup, Liverpool players have played the second fewest minutes combined after their Arsenal counterparts, while Manchester City players have played more than three times the number of minutes. minutes like those of the FA Cup winners.

This suggests that many of the City squad could return to England fatigued and in need of a rest, while the Reds will be one of the freshest teams in the division and ready for a big push in the second half of the season. .

Friendly matches give the likes of Mo Salah, Bobby Firmino, Thiago Alcantara and Andy Robertson some much-needed playing time to keep them going over the break.

Aurelio also believes that the players will enjoy some time away from the cold weather they are currently experiencing in England.

“Escape from the cold of England at the beginning of winter is always nice! The warm weather can also help with the conditioning of the players”, added the Brazilian.

“Of course it will not be easy to work tactically as some players will not return from the World Cup. But it is a good moment to prepare those players who do not intervene, getting minutes on their legs with the scheduled matches.

“It is a new situation for the clubs. I think the break can play a very important role next season for the team that takes best advantage of it.

“Hopefully it’s Liverpool, who have the big task from Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on December 22 in their first game back.”

Following our League Cup defeat to Derby County in early November, our trophy defense continues against the Etihad side and it would be great to send a message of intent with a strong performance against the Sky Blues.

Let’s hope the boys benefit from their time in Dubai and that the seven boys competing in Qatar stay fit and healthy before the return of domestic football.
