Paul Scholes wants Chelsea-bound Christopher Nkunku at Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Paul Scholes has urged Manchester United to snatch RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku from under Chelsea’s nose.

The Frenchman is reportedly close to signing for the Blues, with it likely to be completed by the end of the current season.

Fabrizio Romano even reports that the player completed his medical in September, tweeting earlier this week:

“Chelsea are getting closer to a deal for Christopher Nkunku.

“Doctor already done as reported in September, agreement in force with Leipzig for more than 60 million euros easier clause / payment conditions.

“#CFC Long term agreement agreed from June 2023. Time to sign contracts then… here we go.”

Coming from the Italian journalist, those last three words usually mean almost everything is closed.

But speaking on MUTV’s The Debate, Scholes singles out the Leipzig man as a player United should look to sign.

When asked where Erik ten Hag’s team needed to strengthen, the former midfield maestro didn’t hesitate to name the center forward position.

And “the Leipzig lad he’s linked up with at Chelsea” was the first player on Scholes’ mind, and the Frenchman caught his eye.

The 25-year-old has already scored 12 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, picking up right where he left off last season in terms of output.

Versatile, technical and intelligent, Nkunku would certainly have offered Ten Hag’s team a threat in offensive areas. But with a move to Chelsea all but assured for the attacker, United will likely have to look elsewhere to add goals to their team.

Scholes also points to Victor Osimhen as a player who has impressed him, with the Nigerian hitman a real threat in the penalty area.

Cody Gakpo was the last of the three forwards mentioned by the United legend as a good fit for the club, having seen him shine at the World Cup in Qatar.

The common theme is clearly goals, with United having scored just 20 times in their 14 Premier League games so far this season.

As The Peoples Person reported this morning, United is increasingly confident that a deal for Gakpo can be reached from January, which could help solve that problem.
