World Cup stat suggests LFC may thrive when domestic football returns

The findings suggest Liverpool could be one of the Premier League’s freshest ‘big six’ when domestic football returns after the World Cup in Qatar.

Research by journalist Ben Browning and broadcast on his official Twitter account found that Reds players have completed just 771 minutes of group stage action so far, more than 3 times less than Manchester City players. who compete in the tournament.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side were the least represented club of the recognized ‘big six’ in the tournament, with seven players, while the Citizens had the most (16).

The decision to host the tournament both in the Middle East and in the winter came as a huge surprise and we have yet to see how the clubs will deal with the disruption to the traditional football calendar.

Premier League leaders Arsenal are the only team of the big six to have seen their players earn fewer minutes (612) than the FA Cup holders, which will give Gunners fans great confidence. as they look to continue their excellent form in the English top flight which currently has them five points clear at the top.

Meanwhile, Liverpool sit sixth in the table and experienced a far from convincing start to the campaign, but finished strongly before the World Cup break.

In all competitions, we have won eight of our last 10 games and will be looking to capitalize on the fatigue our opponents may be experiencing in the new year.

The Anfield side face City in the League Cup on December 22 in their first game after the break before a trip to Villa Park on Boxing Day.

Members of Klopp’s team not representing their nation in Qatar will travel to Dubai shortly to complete warm-weather training and also to face Lyon and AC Milan in friendly matches.

Let’s hope that when domestic soccer returns later this month, we’ll be fresh and ready for a great second half of the campaign.
