Manchester United among host of clubs following Argentina’s new hero Enzo Fernandez – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are well underway in this exciting new phase of rebuilding under the expert guidance of new manager Erik ten hag.

Last summer the club spent a lot of money but were very smart in their acquisition and all the players have proven to be a huge hit with the fans.

But the work is far from done with entrances required in both the front and center areas of the park.

United looking for a top midfielder

While Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have done very well since joining the team, their age means the team needs younger legs and a need to prepare for the future considering rumors linking Fred with a departure next summer.

Many names have been mentioned as targets and one name that has refused to go away since the summer is Benfica star Enzo Fernandez.

His value is at an all-time high, especially after his brilliant goal for Argentina in their impressive World Cup win over Mexico, which kept them in the hunt for a qualifying spot.

The 21-year-old has been a fixture at the Portuguese club’s matches this season and has scored three goals and five assists for his club in 24 appearances in all competitions.

His versatility is a huge advantage, as the Argentina international can play in all midfield positions, including as a defensive midfielder or further forward, just behind the striker.

Enzo Fernández is a potential option

According to Portuguese media outlets A Bola, Jornal de Notícias and Record (via Sport Witness), United feature heavily on the list of clubs pursuing the signing of the talented midfielder.

Fernández has a release clause of 120 million euros and the first two media outlets have explicitly mentioned that, despite the enormous interest, Benfica will not let him leave for less than that price.

Record has also mentioned how the Eagles are currently prioritizing their ‘sports project’, so this clause means it’s unlikely he’ll be able to leave in January.

Benfica had paid €12m to sign Fernández from River Plate in July and he is guaranteed to get a big return when they move him considering his club’s performances and World Cup heroics.

United will have to battle with a host of European giants if they are to have any chance of landing this gem of a player.
