Cafu compares ‘full package’ Alexander-Arnold to himself and Carlos

Trent Alexander-Arnold seems to be admired by everyone in world football except Gareth Southgate and now Cafu has come to our defender’s defense and praised him.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Brazilian said: “I don’t understand why [Alexander-Arnold receives criticism]. He is the complete package: he has quality, dribbling skills and pace.

“But it’s always the same. They say you don’t defend and sit [out]. They used to do the same with me and Roberto Carlos, but I would say we managed to win something anyway.”

Given his landmark comments on Jon Flanagan, perhaps we should take the 52-year-old’s words with a pinch of salt, but receiving such praise from a two-time World Cup winner is certainly noteworthy.

It is interesting to hear comparisons with him and Roberto Carlos and it is clear that Jurgen Klopp has a similar opinion, with the so-called defensive weaknesses far outweighed by the obvious attacking and technical ability that our number 66 possesses.

It doesn’t seem right that a platform to showcase the best players in the world doesn’t have Mo Salah, Luis Diaz, Andy Robertson and Thiago Alcantara, but that the 24-year-old is in Qatar but not yet. given a chance – he’s almost criminal.

The caliber of people who speak up for Scouser on our team easily shows that he’s appreciated, but unfortunately for him, not by the only man who can get him minutes in this tournament.

Selfishly, we can enjoy the fact that he’s keeping fit while resting, but it must be a frustrating period for the West Derby-born right-back.
