Portugal vs Uruguay: Portugal qualified for the round of 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after securing a win over Uruguay in a Group H match.

The EURO 2016 winners came into the Portugal vs Uruguay match following their 3-2 victory over Ghana in their opening game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Portugal edged past the African nation to earn all three points in that match.

After a goalless first half in the Portugal vs. Uruguay match, the former broke the tie nine minutes into the second half. Bruno Fernandes scored the goal with a cross shot.

The Manchester United attacker sent a cross into the area for Cristiano Ronaldo, who jumped to head the ball. While there may be arguments about whether or not Ronaldo made contact with the ball, he didn’t change his flight when he fell into the Uruguay net.

The goal was officially credited to Fernandes. But, Ronaldo’s role in that goal was very important. Uruguayan goalkeeper Sergio Rochet, presumably anticipating a Ronaldo header, couldn’t do much when the ball went in.

Fernandes scored again to seal the victory for his team in this Portugal vs Uruguay FIFA World Cup match. Portugal won a penalty after José María Giménez was penalized for touching the ball inside the box.

With Ronaldo already substituted, Fernandes stepped up to take the shot. He made no mistake from the penalty spot, slotting the ball into the net to seal Portugal’s victory.

The victory ensures Portugal’s advance to the round of 16 of the World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo and company. they have six points from two games and top Group G. Uruguay, meanwhile, languishes in fourth place with one point.
