Chelsea closing in on signing France international

Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement to complete the transfer of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig. The France international is currently among the most wanted attackers in Europe.

Christopher Nkunku has established himself as one of the most talented attackers in Europe since joining RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in the 2019 summer transfer window. He has made 159 appearances (in all competitions) for the Red Bulls thus far, registering 64 goals. and 51 assists.

Christopher Nkunku won the Ligue 1 Player of the Season award last season contributing 20 goals and 13 assists in 34 league games. He started the current season brightly and has already scored 12 goals in 15 league appearances. so far.

The 25-year-old attacker was part of the squad for the World Cup in France. But his trip to Qatar was cut short after he suffered a knee injury during the training season ahead of the tournament.

According to trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement to complete the transfer of Christopher Nkunku. The Blues have an agreement with RB Leipzig for a transfer fee.

Christopher Nkunku already completed his medicals with the Blues in September. According to reports, he will sign a long-term contract with the London team from June 2022.

Several other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, have also shown interest in signing the Frenchman. But Chelsea appear to have won the Christopher Nkunku transfer race. In addition to Nkunku, Chelsea are also interested in signing Brazilian teenager Endrick Felipe from Palmeiras.

Laurent Blanc greets Christopher Nkunku

In an interview with L’Équipe last month, France coach Laurent Blanc praised RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku. He said: “I have worked with a lot of young players, and when I see Nkunku at this level, it makes me happy. This is a specific context, but young people have talent.”

Christopher Nkunku was expected to play a key role for France during the FIFA World Cup. His injury is a huge blow to Les Blues as they look to defend their title.

When will the Premier League resume?

The English Premier League is currently on hold due to the FIFA World Cup. He will return to action on Boxing Day (December 26) just eight days after the FIFA World Cup final. Chelsea will resume their campaign against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on December 27.
