World Cup hero Cody Gakpo finally responds to Manchester United’s strong interest – Man United News And Transfer News

PSV Eindhoven striker Cody Gakpo has responded to constant reports linking him to a January move to Manchester United.

Recently, a report detailed that the Red Devils had reached an agreement in principle with Gakpo for a highly successful winter trade.

Another indicated that both Erik ten Hag and club bosses were preparing to move for the talented 23-year-old in January.

In the eyes of Ten Hag, Gakpo is the perfect replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. His versatility also makes him an invaluable asset for the United manager.

In the summer, United were strong suitors for Gakpo, but in the end, the 20-time English champions opted for Antony.

Dutch TV presenter Hans Kraay Jr all but confirmed that Gakpo is exiting the Eredivisie, saying United are the club best prepared to hire his services.

Gakpo has now commented on his situation, saying that he is flattered by the interest in him.

The player said: “I am now concentrating on the World Cup. It’s always good to hear, but I just focus here and do the best I can.”

“I am not ashamed of rumors. But it is a team sport, it is not about one person. I prefer it to be about the team. Those are beautiful things that people write, but that does not worry me too much.

Gakpo refused to rule out a move when the window opens in January.

When asked about this, he said: “Right now I’m busy with the Dutch team. Let’s see what happens in winter. In football everything is possible”.

He also leaned in to succeed anywhere, retorting that the world hadn’t seen the best of him yet.

For the Netherlands so far, Gakpo is the star man. He has two goals for Louis van Gaal’s team to his name. Hopefully United will tie him up quick and bring him to Old Trafford.
