Juventus facing competition from Roma and Spurs for Empoli’s Vicario

Despite having a formidable goalkeeper in Wojciech Szczesny, Juventus are contemplating their options on the market before identifying the Pole’s long-term heir.

The 32-year-old has been solid form for club and country this season, picking up a host of clean sheets. He is yet to concede a goal after two World Cup appearances, and even made a splendid penalty save against Saudi Arabia.

But with his contract due to expire in 2024, his long-term future remains unclear, prompting the club to look elsewhere, at least according to recent reports.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via JuventusNews24, Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario remains Juve’s main target for the goalkeeping department.

However, the source warns the old woman of domestic and foreign competition, specifically from Roma and Tottenham Hotspur.

Both the Giallorossi and Spurs have to rely on older custodians in the form of Rui Patricio and Hugo Lloris, and the source claims that the two sides are also keeping an eye on the 26-year-old.

Vicario has been in sensational form since Empoli’s return to Serie A last season. He recently earned himself a call-up to the Italian national team, but has yet to make his international debut.

The impressive goalkeeper will eventually sign for a top-tier club, but whether it will be Juventus or another team remains to be seen.
