BBC pundit blown can’t believe what reported LFC target did last night

Chris Sutton was impressed by Enzo Fernández’s performance last night after the Benfica midfielder helped Argentina defeat Mexico 2-0.

Liverpool are believed to be keeping an eye on the 21-year-old as the search for a new midfielder continues and Reds fans will have been impressed by what they saw of him yesterday.

In what was a must-win game for Lionel Messi and company, Fernández broke through in the second half and scored with three minutes to go to secure all three points with a wonderfully bristly effort that seemed to stun the BBC Sport commentator.

“That is absolutely brilliant. What a finish in the far top corner, on the right foot, on a postage stamp. An incredible finish,” Sutton told the BBC (via The Boot Room).

“That is game, set and match. Fantastic Fernandez. We’re right behind him and he drives into the left of the box, raises his head and shoots the ball inside. Lovely step. It’s beautiful: there is no chance for the goalkeeper, he is deflected from him with the curve on the ball. Fernández is in the money.

The talented midfielder is believed to have a release clause with the Portuguese team of £105.1m, meaning he is currently a cheaper option compared to the Borussia Dortmund midfielder (currently valued at £131m). sterling for the Bundesliga giants).

However, he only came to the Lisbon-based side earlier this summer after being signed by River Plate for £15.5m, so it may be difficult to reach a deal with his current club.

Goals from midfield are something Jurgen Klopp’s side lack and it looks like Fernandez could provide exactly that.

At just 21, he has his best years ahead of him and hopefully he’ll be excited for the chance to flourish under one of the best managers in the world at Anfield if we made our move.
