Chris Sutton was impressed by Enzo Fernández’s performance last night after the Benfica midfielder helped Argentina defeat Mexico 2-0.
Liverpool are believed to be keeping an eye on the 21-year-old as the search for a new midfielder continues and Reds fans will have been impressed by what they saw of him yesterday.
In what was a must-win game for Lionel Messi and company, Fernández broke through in the second half and scored with three minutes to go to secure all three points with a wonderfully bristly effort that seemed to stun the BBC Sport commentator.
“That is absolutely brilliant. What a finish in the far top corner, on the right foot, on a postage stamp. An incredible finish,” Sutton told the BBC (via The Boot Room).

The talented midfielder is believed to have a release clause with the Portuguese team of £105.1m, meaning he is currently a cheaper option compared to the Borussia Dortmund midfielder (currently valued at £131m). sterling for the Bundesliga giants).
However, he only came to the Lisbon-based side earlier this summer after being signed by River Plate for £15.5m, so it may be difficult to reach a deal with his current club.
