Man United have an agreement in principle with Cody Gakpo for January transfer – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are getting closer to getting Erik ten Hag, their priority target in the January transfer window, Cody Gakpo.

United have a long-standing interest in Gakpo, from the summer until now.

A move never materialized initially, after Ten Hag chose former Ajax star Antony when a decision had to be made between the two attackers.

With the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, United’s need for a striker has become more pressing, hence the strengthening of links with the PSV Eindhoven star.

An earlier report stipulated that Ten Hag and the hierarchy will finally move for their man in January, with the United boss going down as a huge fan of the versatile 23-year-old.

According to this report, €60m would be needed to knock Gakpo out of the Eredivisie, where he is enjoying a fantastic season.

According to Football Insider, talks have been underway with the Red Devils interested in the Dutch international.

Football Insider exclusively reports: “Man United are closing in on a deal with Gakpo after Ten Hag talks.”

“Man United have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ with PSV Eindhoven sensation Cody Gakpo, sources have told Football Insider.”

“PSV do not want to sell in January and the price will increase after their dazzling star in the World Cup.”

The speed at which the main deal was agreed is likely due to the personal terms that were spelled out between United and Gakpo representatives in the summer.

This agreement could have been carried out with a view to finally achieving a line change in January.

United fans will no doubt be eager for negotiations to conclude quickly and for the player to join soon enough to make up for Ronaldo’s departure.
