Cristiano Ronaldo gave the interview as he wanted an exit from Manchester United: Piers Morgan – Man United News And Transfer News

It’s been an eventful last two weeks for Manchester United fans. They must have thought after Fulham’s win that the six-week World Cup break will be quiet with no further distractions.

How wrong that prediction turned out to be, all thanks to one man: Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese, who has not gone through his best moment this season, went to the controversial television presenter Piers Morgan and decided to air his incendiary opinions so that the world would hear them.

CR7 knew what he wanted

During the interview, the striker criticized the club for betraying him and manager Erik ten Hag for disrespecting him. And there were also random shots aimed at the Glazers, as well as United legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.

And that meant that an inevitable parting of ways was in order and was announced a couple of days ago when both sides agreed to a mutual termination.

What started as a fairy tale ended in a nightmare that will leave a bad taste in the mouths of fans around the world.

This was not the outing the club and fans had in mind when they announced to the world that their prodigal son was finally coming ‘home’.

Ronaldo himself revealed that the United chapter is finally over and he awaits new challenges as he looks to help his country win the World Cup.

“The most important step was that we won,” he commented after the game. “This chapter closes after this week. Now we start off on the right foot. I helped my team and now it’s done.”

Interestingly, Morgan himself admitted that Ronaldo’s main desire to do the interview was to secure a way out and he finally got what he was looking for.

CR7 fulfilled his wish

While speaking to FS1 (via The Athletic), the controversial presenter revealed: “To be brutally honest, I think he knew. Look, he’s a very smart guy, Cristiano, he knows what he’s doing.

“He didn’t think it was a certainty, he didn’t want to say in the interview I’m definitely leaving, I’m going to leave United.

“But this was a guy who at the end of his tenure felt that the manager, Ten Hag, the owners whom he said he had never met (and) the club executives who he hadn’t, were disrespecting him. he even believe him when he said that his daughter was sick”.

While the episode has tarnished his legacy at the club, Ten Hag hopes his team can now move forward and pull in the same direction without further distraction as they aim for a top four finish in the league and hopefully a silver at the end of the season.
