Avram Glazer evasive about potential Manchester United sale – Man United News And Transfer News

Avram Glazer was confronted by a Sky News reporter earlier in the week regarding the possible sale of Manchester United.

Asked why he felt now was the right time to sell the club, Glazer replied:

“As we announced yesterday, the board would go through a process and decided that they are going to look at different strategic alternatives and that is what we are doing, so…”

The reporter noted that many Man United fans felt the club should have been sold years ago.

“Well, once again, we’ve been through a process and we’re going to look at all the different strategic alternatives and see where that takes us.”

After that lack of response, Glazer excused himself, clearly feeling that he had responded satisfactorily.

The entire exchange was somewhat indicative of Glazer’s ownership in general.

An owner hiding behind an intentionally obtuse statement and parrot-like phrases seems somewhat familiar considering how the club has handled communications over the last 17 years.

Trying to get something concrete from the United co-owner, the reporter asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s allegations that the Tampa Bay family didn’t care about the club.

“Let me tell you about Cristiano Ronaldo,” he said.

“He is a great Manchester United player. I appreciate everything he has done for the club and I wish him the best of luck for the future.”

The Glazers have been immensely unpopular throughout their tenure of the club, and their elusive nature has been a major factor in that strained relationship.

It’s extremely rare for reporters to catch a glimpse of United ownership, even inspiring The Athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell to embark on a “Finding Joel Glazer” manhunt in September.

With the Red Devils finally close to seeing the end of his tenure, fans can only hope the process doesn’t drag out too long.
