Man United man star of the show

England and USA drew to a disappointing 0-0 draw on Friday night and while the Americans had a solid game plan, Gareth Southgate will be sorely disappointed with his team’s performance.

The Three Lions were very timid going forward and many will call for the likes of Jack Grealish and Phil Foden to be introduced before the Wales game.

The draw leaves England top of their group with four points, but they will need a result against Wales to progress to the next round.

Here are the ratings from the Three Lions players on a disappointing night for Southgate’s men…

Jordan Pickford (6) – A very quiet afternoon for the Everton star, who only had one save left at all.

Kieran Trippier (6) – Worked well with Saka on the right initially, but didn’t have the impact he would have wanted on the game.

John Stones (7) – Produced some good long balls and defended well alongside Maguire.

Harry Maguire (8) – Defended very well throughout the match and won every header thrown at him. He made some great blocks and sent a message to the doubters of him: England’s best player of the night.

Luke Shaw (5.5) – Had moments in the first half and produced some poor crosses throughout. He defended better in the second half.

Declan Rice (6): Missed McKennie for a great chance at first, but made a great block on a Musah shot.

Jude Bellingham (6): could not advance as seen in the Iran game, had to duck often to receive the ball and had no impact on the game (substituted in the 68th minute)

Mason Mount (7) – Dropped deep to help England push the ball forward and looked like a threat whenever he found space. He had a good shot late in the first.

Bukayo Saka (7) – England’s biggest threat on the night and created a good chance in the first half. Hungry for service at all times (Subtitled minute 78)

Raheem Sterling (5) – Quite a game for the Chelsea star who lost possession easily at times and played the safe option far too often. (Subtitled minute 68)

Harry Kane (5) – He didn’t seem to be 100% and he missed a good opportunity early and late. He had a touch in the box during the first half and that summed up his game.

Substitutes: Jack Grealish – 6.5, Jordan Henderson – 6, Marcus Rashford – 6
