Manchester United’s Victor Osimhen chances boosted as Napoli eye replacements – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Victor Osimhen have been given a boost as Napoli have already started looking for a replacement.

That’s according to Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia, who previously tweeted:

“Youssef El Nesry from Sevilla and Jonathan David from Lille, two of the forwards followed by @sscnapoli for an eventual one behind @victorosimhen9.”

Manchester United desperately need a new striker, a situation made worse by the sacking of Cristiano Ronaldo following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

With Anthony Martial struggling for form throughout the campaign, Erik ten Hag has often found himself forced to place Marcus Rashford in the middle of his attack.

Osimhen is said to be high on United’s list of potential forwards and, as The Peoples Person reported last week, the Nigerian could be targeted as early as January, despite the club’s often preferring to make major acquisitions in the summer.

With Napoli seemingly speeding up their plans to replace him, it appears that Gli Azzurri are preparing for an offer sooner rather than later.

Nesry could present a cheap option for the Serie A outfit as they have been out of favor at Sevilla, having only started two La Liga games this season.

Jonathan David has been linked with Manchester United, as well as a host of other Premier League clubs, but a move to Napoli may make more sense at this stage of the Canadian’s career.

Meanwhile, Osimhen looks set to take a step towards the Premier League. He has scored nine goals and in eleven games, which makes him the top scorer in Serie A so far this season.

With two assists, he is averaging a goal participation roughly every 82 minutes in the league. Ten Hag will surely appreciate such an injection of attacking quality into his squad.

His dynamism and exceptional pressing intensity make him a real problem for defenders, and he certainly has the potential to lead the line at Old Trafford.

With a reported price tag of around £60m, a January move could be possible in the right circumstances.
