Winners

Cristiano Ronaldo

This is the fifth FIFA World Cup in which Ronaldo has played. With his goal against Ghana, he also became the first player to score in five different editions of the Men’s World Cup. Ronaldo has scored in every World Cup tournament in which he has participated. His goal against Ghana brought his FIFA World Cup goal tally to eight.

Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes became the provider of Portugal’s second and third goals, setting up both Joao Félix and Rafael Leao. For Portugal’s second goal against Ghana, Fernandes tucked in Félix and the latter brilliantly sent the ball into the net. For Portugal’s third goal, Fernandes forayed into Ghana’s defensive third unopposed and passed the ball to Leao, who finished it off.

Félix started for Portugal in that match and scored the crucial second goal helping Portugal retake the lead. After receiving Fernandes’ pass, Felix made a clever shot to put Portugal up 2-1.

Loser

Juan Cancelo

Cancelo delivered a sub-par performance for Portugal against Ghana. He was to blame for Ghana’s second goal, as he failed to defend properly in preparation. With Diogo Dalot waiting in the wings, Cancelo certainly has to up his game.
