Dani Alves is one of the best right-backs to embrace the game and has discussed how players in his position adapt to different systems.
The Brazilian is one of the most successful players in history and played for Juventus in the 2016/2017 season.
He did not enjoy his time at the club and the bianconeri did not see any reason to keep him beyond that one term either.
The winger is now 39 years old and continues to play professional football. Brazil even selected him for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
An experienced player like him certainly understands the dynamics of playing full-back in different systems.
He spoke about it and his time at Juve recently and said via Calciomercato:
People don’t know what they are saying. It always depends on the team you play for. If you put an extremely defensive player at Barcelona, it doesn’t make sense, and neither is an attacking full-back in a team that prefers defense, he’s not in the right place. An example: me at Juve.
“That Juve was a team that was structurally made to defend. I pushed, but it ended up colliding with the idea of the team, and that’s why I didn’t play as much as I would have liked. You have to choose the right player for the needs of the team”.
