PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo has admitted “it would be an honour” to play for Liverpool as speculation continues over his future with the Eredivisie club.
The Dutch international was encouraged by the sporting director of his current club to complete a move to the Reds after he called Anfield a “good place” for the 23-year-old to go.
The winger has now opened up about his future as he continues to impress for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.
“I think by the end of this season I will be ready to take that step,” Gakpo told NOS (via Caught Offside). “I feel like it was already like that at the beginning of this season, but after this season I am even more ready to take the next step.
“Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. It would be an honor to play there, but I also have to see what kind of team suits me best”.

Gakpo has captained PSV numerous times this season and has been red hot.
He has scored 13 goals and registered 17 assists in just 24 appearances (in all competitions) and there will surely be interest in his signing both in January and at the end of the season.
The Dutchman has been included in the Netherlands squad for the imminent World Cup in Qatar, so if he wants to impress his nation on the big stage, his price tag could rise even higher.
He’s also under contract with PSV until 2026, which means he could cost us a hefty fee so we can secure his signing (if we’re interested).
Earlier this year, it was reported that the Anfield side had held talks with Gakpo, while The Athletic also named Jurgen Klopp’s side as one of the clubs interested in the attacker, so this is certainly one. to consider.
He usually operates from the left but has the versatility to operate anywhere in the forward three, if he were to move to Merseyside he would add to our already impressive attacking options.
