James Milner praises 23-year-old teammate who ‘has got everything’

James Milner believes Andy Robertson and Darwin Nunez’s relationship with Liverpool is growing and the pair are now ‘getting it on’ while on the pitch together for the Reds.

The Scot assisted Bobby Firmino’s opening goal during Southampton’s 3-1 defeat at Anfield yesterday and also set up Nunez’s second of the game to equal Leighton Baines’ record for most assists by a defender in Premier League history. (53).

Milner, who came on as a late substitute against the Saints in what was his 600th appearance in the competition, believes the Uruguayan striker brings something ‘different’ to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“They’re getting that and it’s great that Darwin is scoring those goals,” Milner said (quoted by the Liverpool Echo). “He has adapted pretty quickly, to be fair. He’s still learning the language but he’s getting it, he’s got a great sense of humor and obviously we’ll see more of that I’m sure once his English gets better.

“He has everything, so it’s nice for him to get the goals. And Robbo, we also know how much he loves assists, so it’s important that he continues to get them.

“Just seeing him (Núñez) in training and his attributes, his willingness to work for the team, obviously he is excellent in the air, a great presence, a great striker with both feet, he strikes early, he wants to score goals. He’s a different kind of striker than the other guys up there and it’s obviously great for us as a team to have these guys that have different attributes.”

Our No. 27 has silenced his critics in recent weeks with a string of quality performances and with him regularly finding the back of the net for the FA Cup winners, he will be confident heading into the World Cup with Uruguay.

His brace against the South Coast side yesterday took his tally for the season to nine (in all competitions).

He certainly brings excitement to the game and we can’t wait to see him back in action for Liverpool.

Our first game back after the tournament in the Middle East will be our League Cup tie against Manchester City at the Etihad on December 22.
