How Liverpool have turned Darwin Nunez form around

Liverpool are finally seeing the best of the summer by signing Darwin Nunez despite his initial slow start in the Premier League.

The talented young Uruguayan international looked like an exciting talent at Benfica last season, and it’s no wonder one of Europe’s biggest clubs came out and paid big bucks to win the race for his signature.

Still, some fans may have been a bit skeptical at first, as Nunez managed just two goals in his first eight competitive games for the Reds.

Since then, however, Núñez has looked much more fine-tuned, scoring seven goals and contributing an assist in his last ten games, including a brace in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Southampton.

Darwin Nunez has been in excellent form for Liverpool

Writing in his exclusive Daily Briefing on CaughtOffside’s Substack, Fabrizio Romano gave insight into how Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and his coaches worked on Nunez’s form in training camp.

“They have told me that they are very happy with Darwin. He is doing very well in training, he has a great relationship with his teammates and Klopp’s staff can see the improvement every day,” Romano said.

“The coaching staff and Klopp himself have helped him with specific training, explaining his idea and system; Darwin has now adjusted to a new life in England and a new style of football. Step by Step.”

LFC supporters will surely be delighted by this, as for some time it looked like this big signing might have been a mistake.

Still, Klopp is a top manager and it seems he has once again worked his magic behind the scenes to defuse the situation and help this player realize his full potential.
