Brazil legend and World Cup winner Roberto Carlos has been talking about the England squad and has asked Gareth Southgate to start a player he thinks would play for his own country and World Cup favourite, Brazil.
That is, of course, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold, whose attacking qualities guarantee the 24-year-old a place in England’s top 11, says the former Real Madrid star.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Carlos praised the Liverpool player and, speaking of the Three Lions’ starting right-back, said: “He has to be there, because he is among the best.”
Carlos then went on to say that both Alexander-Arnold and Harry Kane would make the Brazil squad, which is a huge compliment given that the South Americans are favorites to lift the World Cup in Qatar.
The Brazilian said: ‘Kane is also a good player. You have a good team, not only in terms of names, but also in terms of players who have trained well and are ready to play in a World Cup, or to play for the Brazilian team.
I’d say those two [Kane and Alexander-Arnold], but there is more. there is a lot of quality [in the team]. You have a lot of quality.

Although there is no question about Harry Kane’s position in the England squad, there is a lot going on around Alexander-Arnold.
There was even a debate about whether the Liverpool star would be in the squad before Reece James was injured, as Southgate is more of a pragmatic manager.
The 24-year-old is undoubtedly England’s most talented full-back, but whether Southgate heeds Carlos’s advice remains to be seen.
